Tenino falls via tiebreaker against Montesano

The Tenino girls tennis team split its six matches against Montesano on Thursday, but the Bulldogs came away with the win via tiebreaker.

Chloe Suess won in the third singles match, and Taylor Sturgill and Presley Jones won in the third doubles match. In both matches, the Beavers had to win a tiebreak to win one of the sets, something Tenino coach Sam Shea said was impressive to watch.

“I’m really proud of them,” Shea said. “It's tough when you get in that position to stay in the right mindset. It’s pretty cool to see both of them pull out that win. They did a great job of staying in it.”

Kaycee Jones and Leah Noll pulled off a doubles win in the top doubles match, and over the past few matches, Shea said that they have benefited from an improvement in their communication.

“Sometimes they can get in the mode where they’re not talking and drop some points,” Shea said. “But overall, their communication has improved every match we’ve seen. It’s great to see them finding their chemistry.”

Tenino will face Columbia (White Salmon) and Stevenson in a doubleheader on Monday.
