The Tenino volleyball team started off strong against Montesano on Tuesday, but ultimately fell 25-22, 23-25, 11-25, 15-25.
“The loss stings a lot,” Tenino coach Shauna Carpenter said. “We prepared and adjusted. We stuck with our game plan, but just couldn’t mentally push through.”
Katen Burkhardt led the way with 13 kills, 11 digs, five assists, and two blocks while going a perfect 10 for 10 from the service line, while Sequoia Zimmer added 17 digs and 15 assists.
Violet Zimmer missed just two of 15 serves while collecting five digs, four kills, and two aces, while Kendall Bowe went 17 for 18 from the line with six kills, four aces, and four blocks. Keira Laughlin also had a strong night at the line, going 15 for 18, and she tallied three digs and an ace.
Tenino (7-7, 3-2 1A Evergreen) will head to Elma on Thursday.
