It’s been an offensive resurgence for Onalaska High School junior Ethan Thayer, netting a game-high 21 points to lead the way in a 49-40 victory over Tenino on Saturday night at Brock Court.
Thayer has been the Loggers’ best scorer in the last two games. He made nine field goals on the night and posted 12 rebounds for a double-double. Head coach Fred Sturza was pleased with the effort on defense.
“We were able to handle the pressure and maintain a decent cushion for the entirety of the second half,” Sturza said. “Overall, proud of the effort as a team.”
Tenino (2-10) was paced by 10 points apiece from Henry Czuleger and Kellan Johnson. The Beavers were down four after the opening quarter, but the deficit was ballooned to double digits at halftime.
Onalaska will battle Raymond/South Bend on Monday while Tenino opens the league season on Tuesday versus Montesano.
