Centralia College Theatre’s 223rd production, “The Sneeze,” opens at the college’s Wickstrom Studio Theatre in Centralia on Friday, Feb. 24.

The show runs through March 5, with 7 p.m. shows Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. shows on Sundays. There will also be a 7 p.m. show on Thursday, March 2.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and can be purchased at the door, by phone at 360-623-8871 or online at centralia.edu.theatre.

Live-streaming options are also available.

“The Sneeze” is a 1988 play by English playwright Michael Frayn based on four short stories and four one-act plays by renowned Russian author Anton Chekhov, for a total of eight short dramatic pieces set in late 1800s/early-1900s Russia.

“Anton Chekhov is best known for his dramas ‘The Three Sisters, The Cherry Orchard and Uncle Vanya.’ However, he also was a master of comedy, penning hundreds of hilarious short stories and vignettes for the stage. ‘The Sneeze’ brings together a handful of Chekhov's short works, in a translation by Michael Frayn, an author in his own right for comedies such as ‘Noises Off,’” reads Centralia College’s description of the show. “Come enjoy these pieces in the spirit of vaudeville, which poke fun at (the) ironies of life and love.”

Unique for Centralia College productions, four directors — Emmy Kreilkamp, Thomas Perkins, Isaac Wulff and D. Douglas Lukascik — and are bringing the show to life. Many of the show’s 13 actors play multiple roles across different scenes.

The production is sponsored by the Associated Students of Centralia College.

Centralia College is located at 600 Centralia College Blvd. in Centralia. Wickstrom Studio Theatre is located within Washington Hall on the college’s campus.
