Thousands of rainbow trout bound for Offutt Lake in Thurston County were lost when a fish stocking truck overturned earlier this week, according to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Around noon Tuesday, WDFW police were notified of the overturned vehicle. The driver, a WDFW employee, was treated by emergency responders on scene for minor injuries and released, the agency said in a statement.
More than 7,500 fingerling rainbow trout were lost, the agency said. The fish would have been released at Offut Lake in the spring.
The agency said it delivered 2,000 fingerling rainbow trout Tuesday to the site and has plans to replace the fish lost in the crash.
