Three people were hospitalized Thursday after a minivan left the road near Seventh Avenue Park, then hit a pedestrian and crashed into an apartment complex, trapping a woman inside.

The Longview Fire Department reports an elderly man was driving the minivan when it left the roadway, hit a woman walking by and crashed into the apartment building.

Longview police say the accident was in the 1000 block of Seventh Avenue, which runs from around Delaware Street to Florida.

When crews arrived at the scene at 11:24 a.m., the van was inside the apartment, with a person inside the vehicle, and an unconscious person laying on the lawn. A woman was also trapped between the van and an inside wall of the apartment, the department reports.

Fire crews released the woman under the van and building rubble by cutting the wall with chainsaws. She was sent by LifeFlight to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver in critical condition.

The pedestrian and driver of the van were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview.

Apartment residents were evacuated until the city's planning department could review the structural damage, and power was shut off as a precaution.

Longview police are investigating.
