Set to take place next week, three locals will compete in the Washington Men’s Amateur Golf Championship at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla: Cole Wasson of Centralia, Kalib Knutson of Rochester, and Matt Gill of Chehalis.

Entries qualified by having an up-to-date Handicap Index issued by a Washington Golf member club not exceeding 8.4, are members in good standing of the club, and are either on the exempt player list or qualified at one of the five qualifying tournaments.

More than a hundred of the best amateur golfers in the state will compete, starting next Tuesday through Thursday.

Wasson, a 2022 Centralia High School graduate, will tee off at 10 a.m. with Dane Huddleston of Woodland and Daniel Kim of Mukilteo. Wasson qualified by finishing tied for fifth at a qualifier on June 14 on The Home Course in Dupont.

Knutson, of Rochester, tees off at 8:10 a.m. with Dalton Dean of Lynnwood and Sam Pauly of Nine Mile Falls. Knutson tied for ninth at a qualifier on June 15 at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.

Chehalis’ Gill will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with Kyle Fish of Everett and Ryne Peterson of Puyallup. Gill finished in the final qualifying spot at the qualifier in Dupont, tying for 24th.
