Thunderbirds sweep Trojans in regular season finale

The Tumwater volleyball team finished its regular season by extending its winning streak to 14 games on Thursday, sweeping Fife 25-9, 25-12, 25-10 in non-league action.

Whitney Van Gorkom had a team-high 11 kills, while Paige Henderson tallied seven and Natalie Montoya-Kilmer added six.

Emily Robello dished out 34 assists and had nine aces without a service error. Brooklynn Hayes and McKayla Clary had three aces each.

Lalie Betschart led the team defensively with 11 kills, though Hayes added eight and Bri Zavala recorded seven.

Tumwater is set to host the district tournament, which begins on Nov. 2 after a pigtail game on Oct. 31 at Mark Morris. As the top seed from the Evergreen, the Thunderbirds will host Washougal, the No. 4 team from the GSHL at 4 p.m. in the main gym.
