Three adults have been displaced after a fire broke out in their Maytown home on Sunday. The cause of the fire is unknown and is being investigated.
West Thurston Fire Chief Rob Smith said four agencies and a total of 20 personnel were on the scene of the house fire on Shelly Street. He said when they arrived, the house was already fully engulfed in flames. He said it took more than five hours for crews to put out the fire. There were no injuries reported.
Smith said the 1,200-square-foot house was extensively damaged, and a couple of cars parked on the property were damaged as well. The three adults who lived in the home have been connected to the American Red Cross for assistance.
West Thurston Regional Fire Authority was assisted by McLane Black Lake, Riverside, East Olympia and South Thurston fire districts. Smith said the cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
