Thurston County reported 419 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths during the period of Aug. 8 through Aug. 14.
There were 499 cases reported and two deaths between Aug. 1 and Aug. 7.
Out of the 56,114 total county cases reported by Aug. 17, patients who have recovered or are recovering increased to 55,549, according to the county health department.
As of Aug. 17, the county health department reported a total of 2,719 COVID-related hospitalizations and 422 deaths in Thurston County since the start of the pandemic.
Health care workers have vaccinated 66.7% of the population countywide since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Washington state Department of Health (DOH).
In neighboring Pierce County, deaths per 100,000 population couldn’t be calculated because less than 10 people died, and new cases were down at 127.9 per 100,000 population as of Aug. 16, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
The total number of cases in the county reached 224,280 as of Aug. 16, with 1,486 deaths, according to DOH.
In Washington state, as of Aug. 16, there were 1,764,619 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, a total of 70,025 people have been hospitalized because of the illness, and 13,843 people have died, according to DOH.
Over 14.3 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state.
Nationwide, as of Aug. 16, there were 92,725,512 total cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 1,032,215 confirmed deaths and 83.5% of Americans 5 years old and up have at least one of the vaccinations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
