Kaela M. Glover, 40, of Lacey, faces one felony charge and two gross misdemeanors after the car she was driving landed in a ditch in Centralia Sept. 10.
She was allegedly found to be intoxicated at the scene and in possession of fentanyl. She was arrested.
According to charging documents filed by the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office, a Centralia police officer at the scene discovered a plastic straw on the floorboard of the car, “which he recognized as an item used to ingest narcotics.”
“Other officers on scene obtained consent to search the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia, suspected controlled substances, small clean baggies, and a scale,” the documents stated.
A detective then allegedly located a brown bag with four rubber containers that contained what was suspected to be fentanyl powder. When questioned, Glover reportedly admitted to using narcotics at 4 a.m. that morning. Her pupils were constricted as she spoke.
Glover took and reportedly failed a standardized field sobriety test.
A passenger who was in the vehicle allegedly told officers that the narcotics belonged to Glover, “and that Ms. Glover told her to hide the bag in her property because she was the passenger and the police would not search it,” according to the charging documents.
The woman allegedly said that Glover sold drugs. According to her, Glover was using a bong to smoke fentanyl while she was driving. Glover then fell asleep and crashed the vehicle.
Glover allegedly admitted to delivering drugs as a “middle man.” Officers confirmed Glover’s statements by viewing her phone, which Glover reportedly allowed.
Glover was officially charged with one count each of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, driving while under the influence and reckless endangerment. She faces up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines for the felony possession charge.
According to court documents, Glover has felony convictions that include second-degree possession of stolen property, second-degree burglary and forgery. She has had nine prior arrest warrants issued.
Judge Paul Strophy set Glover’s bail at $10,000 cash or bond during a preliminary appearance Sept. 11. An arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 18, with Don Blair assigned to represent Glover.
