Napavine finished its Central 2B League slate with a 19-0 hammering of Winlock on the road Friday.
The win — combined with Onalaska’s win over Wahkiakum Friday — gives the Tigers the No. 6 seed in the C2BL for the 2B District 4 playoffs. That means Napavine will face the 2B Pacific League’s No. 3 seed, which is yet to be determined. An Ilwaco win over Raymond-South Bend on Tuesday would give the Fishermen the No. 3 seed. A loss gives PWV the third seed.
But on Friday, the Tigers took care of business to seal their sixth seed, pounding out 10 runs in the fifth inning after leading 9-0 to seal the victory.
Ashton Demarest was solid with four scoreless innings on the mound, fanning five batters while allowing just two hits and a walk.
Gavin Parker provided the punch on offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, three RBIs, two runs and a walk. Demarest helped himself at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Conner Holmes added three runs and an RBI on 2-for-3 hitting.
Winlock’s Mekhi Morlin was shelled for eight earned runs on 10 hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Aiden Eitel led the Cardinals’ offense, going 1 for 2. Trevor Twiggs was 1 for 1 and Chris “Ozzie” Heikkila was 1 for 3.
Winlock heads to Mossyrock for a non-league contest at noon on Saturday. Napavine hosts Kalama in a non-league game on Monday.
