Heading into this week, Napavine coach Monica Dailey said that her girls knew the importance of the upcoming matches.
In a battle for a playoff spot, every game matters, especially when facing the teams that you’re next to in the standings.
The Tigers helped their postseason chances immensely on Tuesday night in Morton, topping the T-Wolves 26-24, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20.
“I knew my girls could do it,” Dailey said. “They definitely earned this win tonight. I couldn't have asked for the team as a whole to play better. Every single one of them played so well. I’m just really proud of them.”
Kennedy Purvis tallied 14 kills, 13 digs, and four aces, while Makayla Brett dished out 34 assists to go along with 10 digs and three aces.
Sophia Bittner had 10 digs, five kills, and five aces, while Lilly Grabianowski added 13 digs. Ava Ondong recorded 13 kills, and Mya Garrett logged 10 kills and four block kills.
Dailey also commended Anna Guenther, who was perfect in serve receive while tallying nine digs and a pair of aces. Dailey also said that Ondong and Grabianowski were impressive in serve receive, and she said she was proud of how the group as a whole bounced back after dropping the third set.
“They really stepped up and finished that game,” Dailey said. “The girls didn’t give up, and they came out in that fourth set and finished the game.”
With the win, the Tigers (3-10, 2-3 C2BL) now have two league wins. Along with MWP, they are two games up on both Winlock and Adna for the final two district tournament spots.
The Tigers can officially clinch a spot in the district tournament on Thursday at home against Adna.
