Tigers power past Toutle

The Napavine girls soccer team turned a close game into a blowout in a matter of minutes Wednesday, en route to a 5-0 win over Toutle Lake.

The Tigers (7-2-3, 5-0-1 C2BL) took an immediate lead just two minutes into the match thanks to Haley Gallagher, who celebrated her birthday with a quick goal.

But the scoreline would stay at 1-0 for half an hour, until things shifted rapidly.

In the 34th, Ellie Gilbert, who assisted on Gallagher’s goal, scored off a corner kick from Hannah Fay. Two minutes later, Hayden Kaut took an assist from Grace Pancake and scored to make it 3-0, and the very next minute, she got her second, pushing it to 4-0 just like that.

Maya Kunkel gave Napavine one more insurance goal in second-half stoppage time.

Taylen Evander had four saves in the first half for the Tigers, and Avery Schutz made two in the second.

Napavine will host Winlock on Monday.
