Unable to put anything through the back of the net in the opening half, the Centralia boys soccer team took advantage of an early opportunity in the second half, and held on the rest of the way in a 1-0 win over Rochester on the road Friday night.

The Tigers managed 16 shots, and had three corners and three more direct free kicks, but could only capitalize on one of those opportunities in the opening moments of the second.

In the 42nd, off a Simba Osman corner, Alan Cox’s head found the ball and scored the Tigers’ lone goal of the game, in what would prove to be the game-winner.

Centralia keeper Carlos Hernandez recorded seven saves to keep the clean sheet for the road team.

The Tigers play Shelton at home on Tuesday next while the Warriors will take a break from league play against Olympic on the road Saturday.
