Napavine pushed its winning streak to eight in the final game of its regular season, topping Mossyrock 10-6 on Thursday in Mossyrock.

While the final score would indicate a solid offensive day from both sides, that was anything but the case for the first five innings.

The Tigers led by a score of just 2-1 heading into the sixth, when they scored four runs before adding four more in the seventh to extend the lead to 10-2.

The Vikings responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to make things dicey down the stretch.

Taylen Evander tallied four hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs, while Hannah Fay collected two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs.

Hayden Kaut added a double and drove in three runs as part of a two-hit day, and Dakota Lyons added two doubles and scored three times.

Lyons also pitched all seven innings, allowing nine hits and six runs (two earned) while striking out six without issuing a walk.

Annika Ball had three hits, a home run and two doubles, and drove in two to lead the Mossyrock offense, while Brooke Schwartz added a hit and drove in two runs. Hailey Allen also had a hit and drove in a run, as did Zoella Zavodsky.

Mossyrock (7-10) will enter the district tournament as the C2BL’s No. 6 seed, which will put them against Rainier, the league’s four seed, in the first round of the district tournament.

The elimination game will take place on Monday at Fort Borst Park in Centralia, and the winner will get Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, the P2BL champions, in the quarterfinals.

As the C2BL’s No. 2 seed, Napavine (16-2) will have a first-round bye and is off until the district quarterfinals.

The Tigers’ quarterfinal will be against either Onalaska or Raymond/South Bend, the winner of the C7/P3 first-round matchup, next Friday, May 16, at Fort Borst Park.
