The Pe Ell-Willapa Valley and Naselle baseball teams went back-and-forth on Saturday in Pe Ell, but the Titans ultimately fell 7-6.
Naselle took the lead early with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but PWV responded with three in the bottom half on a two-run double from Liam Smaciarz and an error.
The Comets answered with another pair to make it 4-3 Naselle, but a Lucas Lusk RBI single and a Brayden Russell sacrifice fly gave the Titans a 5-4 lead after two.
Both offenses were able to get more traffic on the basepaths after that, but only a few more came around to score.
The Comets tied the game in the fifth and took the lead with two in the sixth, and PWV was only able to cut the deficit in half in the sixth before stranding the tying run on base in the seventh.
Smaciarz finished with three hits, including two doubles, and he drove in two runs. Lusk also collected two hits and drove in a run, while Liam Lennox collected an RBI hit in his only at-bat.
Kannyon Clements and Mauricio Morales combined to allow six hits on the mound, and only three of the seven runs Naselle scored were charged as earned runs.
PWV (4-3, 2-2 P2BL) will head to Adna on Monday for another non-league matchup.
