Behind a four touchdown day from quarterback Brody Ritzman and three turnovers, the Pe Ell/Willapa Valley football team demolished Coupeville 48-14 on Friday night in Menlo in a Class 2B crossover contest.

For the 11 seniors on the roster, they played in the Round of 16 as freshmen and got another chance at an extended season in their final year. PWV (7-3) will find out its opponent on Sunday.

“I’m really happy for all my kids,” Titans head coach John Peterson said. “We were really physical (tonight). They loaded the box and then we could throw it a little bit.”

Ritzman threw just six times, but completed five passes and darted throws of 57 yards to Lucas Lusk and 48 yards to Cody Mican. He also found Blane King for two touchdowns of 7 and 12-yards. The offense put up exactly 500 yards and 24 first downs on the night.

Lusk tallied 171 yards on the ground plus Spud Swogger found the end zone late to put the victory on ice. He and Eddie Clements each went over 70 yards behind an offensive line that Peterson credited his staff to get prepped. King also had two interceptions and Mican recovered a fumble.

“District 4 is pretty dang good,” Peterson said. “You make it out, you’re OK.”
