Five errors plus 11 unanswered runs equaled a non-league setback for the Pe Ell/Willapa Valley softball team in falling to Montesano 11-1 in five innings on Monday afternoon on the road.
Titans leadoff hitter Lauren Matlock got the scoring started with a solo home run to center field on a full count. Then, the Bulldogs seized control with three runs in the bottom half of the first and four in the second. They finished the game early with the run-rule tally crossing home on a wild pitch.
Jillian Hodel finished with two hits, including a double, for PWV and Eliza Barnum struck out six and only six of the 11 runs given up were earned. The Titans have over a week off before tangling with Chief Leschi in a P2BL doubleheader at home.
