'Together, we can make a lasting impact': Centralia Youth Sports achieves nonprofit status

Centralia Youth Sports, a program that partners with the Centralia School District to provide organized sports opportunities for K-12 Centralia athletes, has officially become a nonprofit organization.

“Guided by an exemplary board of leaders, the organization is poised to make a lasting impact on the local sports landscape,” Centralia Youth Sports stated in a news release earlier this month.

Centralia Youth Sports aspires to build a holistic sports program beginning with grassroots, striving to leave no child with interest or potential behind, according to the news release. Participants have the opportunity to advance from their current level to their highest aspirations, guided by the fundamental principle that everything is earned, not given.

“Centralia Youth Sports recognizes the importance of sport in the development of young individuals. Partnering with the Centralia School District allows us to empower children and help them realize their full potential,” Centralia Youth Sports stated in the news release. “Beginning with an early introduction and understanding of a wide range of sports, (Centralia School District) youth programs support our community with affordable and accessible programs that yield high participation. This participation continues as athletes advance in their academic careers, representing Centralia along the way.”

Centralia Youth Sports supports the opportunities already available to Centralia’s young athletes, such as Little League, Centralia Youth Soccer and Poseidon, according to the news release. The organization promotes local opportunities, teams and organizations to connect the greater sports community.

In the 2023-24 season, Centralia Youth Sports provides seven select basketball teams with boys and girls in grades 4-8.

“Centralia Youth Sports welcomes individuals, organizations, and businesses interested in partnering with us to promote this initiative further. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of Centralia's youth,” the organization said in a news release.
