While not as high scoring as the Class 2B third place game last May in Yakima, the Riverhawks still found a way to beat the Titans with a five-run top of the sixth to claim a 6-1 win in Pe Ell on Friday afternoon.
Knotted at 1-1 after five complete innings, Toledo (9-1) started to notch extra base hits that were responsible for the breakout frame. Camryn Hurley ripped a two-run double and scored on Audrey Cooper’s double. With two outs, Taysia Miller drove in a pair on a triple.
Of the six hits by the Riverhawks all game, half were in the sixth. Peyton Holter and Brenna Carver shut the door in the circle with a combined three hits allowed and four strikeouts.
The Titans (8-4) pieced together a two-out rally with an RBI double by Tylar Keeton to put them on the scoreboard first. Despite the loss, Eliza Barnum struck out nine in the circle. They will get a rematch with Adna on Saturday before hosting Chief Leschi in a P2BL doubleheader on Tuesday.
Toledo has a three-game week that begins on Monday with a C2BL contest versus Mossyrock.
