Members of the American Legion Post 101 Washington and the Toledo Lions Club are bringing back the Veterans Day parade held in Toledo.
The parade is set to return to the South Lewis County Community on Saturday, Nov. 8, according to a Legion Post 101 Facebook post.
While the parade was once an annual event, the last one covered by The Chronicle was the fifth annual Veterans Day parade in 2014.
The Toledo City Council approved the Toledo Lions Club’s parade permit request during a regular meeting at the beginning of October, as previously reported by The Chronicle.
Beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the parade will follow the same route as the Toledo Cheese Days parade — starting at Toledo Middle School, heading south on North Fifth Street, then east on Augustus Street, then south on South Second Street before the final turn west on Oak Street to the parade’s finish at the Kemp Olson Memorial Park and RV Campground.
Toledo Middle School is located at 155 N. Fifth St.
Kemp Olson Park is also the location of the Toledo Lions Club’s Veterans Wall of Honor, which currently features the names of over 400 local veterans engraved on the bricks in the wall.
The Veterans Wall of Honor will also be the location of the Veterans Day programs scheduled on the holiday itself on Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting at 10:45 a.m., and followed by a luncheon at the Olequa Older Adult Center in Winlock with a guest speaker and quilt raffle.
Kemp Olson Park is located at 611 Cedar St. in Toledo, and the Olequa Older Adult Center is located at 119 SW Kerron St. in Winlock.
