Four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning erased a 10-7 deficit and the Riverhawks held on for a monumental 11-10 triumph over the Pirates on Saturday morning in a C2BL tilt at home.
Toledo (10-3, 3-1 C2BL) now are tied in the loss column with Adna and Napavine in the standings halfway through the league slate. The Tigers and Riverhawks meet on Thursday in a vital matchup.
Three straight singles in the fifth set up a bases-clearing double by Xtyn Norberg to tie the game at 10. Taysia Miller brought Norberg home on a one-out single to give Toledo the lead for good. Peyton Holter stranded the tying run at third in the sixth and set Adna down 1-2-3 in the seventh.
After the Riverhawks scored four in the first, the Pirates (9-4, 4-1) plated six in the third to take the lead. Kendall Humphrey launched a two-run home run and the rest of the scoring came on two RBI singles, a dropped third strike and an error.
Norberg finished with four RBIs for Toledo and was one of five hitters with two hits. Zaya Norberg scored three times and Holter struck out six in the circle. Adna was paced by three hits apiece by Danika Hallom and Brytin Dollarhyde.
The Riverhawks host Morton-White Pass on Monday while the Pirates trek to face Toutle Lake, also on Monday.
