The Toledo softball team needed just seven innings to complete a doubleheader sweep over Morton-White Pass, as the Riverhawks won 13-4 in four innings and 18-1 in three.

The Riverhawks (7-0, 3-0 C2BL) jumped out of the gate in both games, scoring four in the first in Game 1 before adding one in the second and five in the third. Three in the fourth was enough to put the game in run-rule territory.

Peyton Holter shut down the T-Wolves (1-6, 1-3 C2BL) in four innings of work, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out five.

“We were pretty clean in the field, our bats just weren’t going,” Morton-White Pass coach Derek Bowen said. “Holter was really good placing the ball, hitting all four corners. It was hard to get the timing on that.”

Quyn Norberg and Zaya Norberg both went 2 for 3 in the first game, as Zaya drove in three and Quyn drilled a triple and drove in one.

Toledo needed just two innings to plate 18 runs in the nightcap, scoring nine in both innings.

Brenna Carver allowed just one hit and an unearned run in the circle, and Quyn Norberg drove in another three. Rahkelle Miller also drove in three and tallied three hits, and Ofelia Rico brought home two. In the two innings, Toledo drew 12 walks.

“We walked quite a few that first inning and they all scored,” Bowen said. “We never could recover. Nobody had mental errors. We just didn’t have our bats alive tonight.”

Morton-White Pass will host Rainier on Thursday, and Toledo will look to stay unbeaten next Thursday, April 18, at home against Adna.
