Trailblazers drop three of four against Titans

The regular season wrapped up for the Centralia College baseball team on Saturday, when the Trailblazers split a pair of matchups against Tacoma Community College.

TCC took both matchups against CC on Friday, giving them the series win.

Sam Matosich had at least one hit in all four games, including a go-ahead two-run double in CC’s 3-2 win in the opener on Saturday and a solo home run in the nightcap.

Even with the series loss, the Trailblazers (23-26, 12-12 NWAC West) have qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2019.

If Bellevue can hang on to the No. 2 spot in the North Division on Sunday, the Trailblazers and Walla Walla (the East’s No. 3 seed) will head north for a Super Regional.

Walla Walla and CC would play one game, and the winner would face Bellevue in a best-of-three series. The winner of that will join the three other Super Regional winners and the four division winners at the NWAC Championships, which are set to take place from May 22 to May 26 at Lower Columbia College in Longview.
