Trailblazers sweep Rangers for third straight victory

The Centralia College volleyball team won its third straight game on Monday night, sweeping Olympic College 25-8, 25-22, 28-26.

“I’m proud of our ladies tonight and the depth we have in our team,” CC coach Ceanna Larson-Michalek said.

Centralia (3-1) dominated the first set, as Morgan Rogerson and Avery Starr went on serving runs to push the lead and get Olympic out of system.

“That allowed us to spread out our offense and create gaps in their defense for some big swings in set one,” Larson-Michalek said.

The Rangers didn’t go down as easily in the second or third set, even taking a five-point lead in the final set, but the Trailblazers rallied to stave them off and come away with the sweep.

Starr tallied 30 assists, 15 digs, and four blocks, while Paige Miller added 13 kills, seven digs, and two blocks. Rogerson finished with 10 blocks and six digs.

The Trailblazers will head east on Tuesday for the Big Bend/Wenatchee Valley Tournament. They’ll face Big Bend, who they lost to in five sets in the Blazer Classic last weekend, and Skagit Valley on Wednesday before taking on Wenatchee Valley and Everett on Thursday.
