Daytime travelers who don’t change their plans could see 7-mile backups on southbound Interstate 5 in Thurston County, a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation states.
Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will reduce two-mile sections of southbound I-5 to one lane. Crews will fill gaps in the surface of the roadway and fix potholes.
I-5 will be reduced to one lane from 6 a.m. to noon, Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20, near Maytown, as well as from 6 a.m. to noon, Monday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 3, near the Lewis County line.
Crews need warm and dry conditions to perform the repairs. The repairs will help reduce the rate of deterioration on the roadway.
All work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
