The Pe Ell girls basketball team bounced back from a Wednesday loss with a win on Thursday, as the Trojans defeated Naselle 55-35.

“It was great to see the girls come out intense and excited to play,” Pe Ell coach Kelsey Lennox said. “They didn't let the night before spill over into tonight.”

The second quarter was Pe Ell’s best, as the Trojans (7-3, 2-2 1B Columbia Valley) held the Comets to just two points in the entire frame and outscored them 15-2 to take a 20-point lead into halftime.

Karli Phelps and Peyton Zock led the way offensively, as the two combined for 37 points. Phelps scored 19 and hit five 3-pointers in the first half, and she also finished with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Zock recorded a double-double, scoring 18 while grabbing 10 rebounds and blocked four shots.

“Peyton Zock worked her butt off every second that she was on that court tonight,” Lennox said. “Probably the hardest I’ve seen her work.”

Emma Kissner also provided a spark, hauling in 13 rebounds and scoring five points while also deflecting several passes and laying out for multiple loose balls.

Pe Ell is back on the floor on Monday, when they’ll head south to take on the Washington School for the Deaf.
