Behind a stuffed stat sheet from star Karli Phelps and a double-double by Peyton Zock, the Pe Ell High School girls basketball team picked up their first win since mid-December with a 74-32 blowout over Oakville on Tuesday night.
It snapped a four-game skid for Pe Ell (3-7, 1-0 CVL) in claiming its first league win. The Trojans jumped out of the gate with a lead, 23-4, and never looked back en route to a running clock by the second half.
Phelps’ 24 points led the team, but she also finished with seven assists and steals plus six rebounds. Zock had 14 points and 12 rebounds while Maisy King chipped in 17 points. Pe Ell will face Wahkiakum on Thursday at home.
“It was nice to see eight girls in the scoring column tonight and to get everyone quality playing time,” Pe Ell head coach Kelsey Lennox said. “It was a great team effort and the energy was high all night, both on the court and on the bench.”
Oakville (4-5, 2-2) was paced by Ui’lani Siufanua, scoring 22 of its 32 points. The Acorns will have a week off before battling Three Rivers Christian at home.
