Senior star running back Malcolm Tukes made his return to the gridiron for the Centralia High School football team Friday night, and despite his best efforts against Aberdeen, the Bobcats pulled away 50-20.
Tukes rushed for 215 yards and a pair of scores on 28 carries after missing last week’s game against Black Hills for an undisclosed reason.
Centralia and Aberdeen played a competitive first quarter with back-and-forth scores by both teams, including Tukes’ two touchdowns. Aberdeen broke the 14-14 tie in the second quarter and proceeded to outscore the Tigers 36-6 over the final three quarters.
Freshman quarterback Caden Erickson completed three of his eight pass attempts for 67 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His touchdown came in the third quarter to senior Owen Sharp for a 42-yarder.
Next up for Centralia (1-5, 0-2 EvCo) is the Swamp Cup against W.F. West (5-1, 1-0 EvCo) in Chehalis next Friday as the Tigers look to snap a 16-game skid to the Bearcats. A win over their rival would be the first in the series since 2008.
