One week after dropping its opener in Puyallup, Tumwater came out firing in Bainbridge.

The T-Birds tallied more than 500 yards of total offense and scored seven touchdowns in a 45-6 win over the Spartans.

Tyler Briscoe led the offensive effort with 220 total yards and three total touchdowns, while Peyton Davis logged 108 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Jayden Hinchcliffe added 99 yards and a touchdown on three carries.

Jaxon Budd finished 5 for 9 passing with 126 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Wyatt Chase led the way with 10 tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack, and an interception, while Landon Anchors forced and recovered a fumble. Mason Houskeeper was constantly in the Bainbridge backfield, and he finished with four tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks.

The Tumwater special teams unit was also on its A-game, blocking a PAT and a field goal.

Next up for the T-Birds (1-1) is a matchup at home against 4A Eastlake, which is coached by former Eastern Washington University receiver Greg Herd.

Herd played for Tumwater coach William Garrow at Steilacoom and joined Garrow’s staff at North Thurston after his professional career.

“I know his team will be ready,” Garrow said. “I’m excited to see our kids compete against his squad.”
