The Tumwater baseball team ended up on top of a high-scoring affair on Wednesday, topping Aberdeen 11-8 in an EvCo matchup.
The T-Birds took control early, scoring five in the second and two in the third to take a 7-1 lead, and they added two more in the fourth to make it 9-2.
The Bobcats didn’t go quietly, though, as they scored six runs over the next three innings, and they trailed by just two entering the seventh.
Tumwater added an insurance run in that inning, and Braeden Konrad struck out two in a scoreless bottom half to earn the save. Spencer Fillippone had pitched the previous two innings after the starter, Luke Houk, threw the first four.
Landon Roy, Will Bond, and Kade Contreras drove in two runs each, and Contreras ended up reaching base in four of his five plate appearances (one hit, three walks).
The T-Birds (7-4, 5-0 2A EvCo) will head to Chehalis on Friday to face W.F. West. The winner will become the last unbeaten team in league play and take sole control of first place.
