Twin Cities Base Ruth hosting Home Run Derby

Posted

The Twin Cities Babe Ruth League is hosting its first annual Home Run Derby on Saturday, and it is open to all kids from ages 10-15.

Gates open at Stan Hedwall Park at 9:30 a.m., and the Derby is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The price for entry for those who haven’t already RSVP’d is $20, and that admission can be paid at the gate.

There will be food and other activities, and the winner of each derby will receive a $100 gift card to Willie’s Sports Shop.

Participants will be split into three groups depending on their age – kids ages 10 and 11, 12 and 13, and 14 and 15.

The depth of the fences will be adjusted for each group. The youngest group will be swinging for fences that are 110 feet from home plate, while the fence will be pushed back to 160 feet for the middle group. For the oldest participants, the fences will be placed 200 feet from home plate.
