Twin Cities Rotary is hosting its first Texas hold’em poker tournament to honor its long-time member, Leon Bowman, who died in March of 2021 at 77 due to complications from Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Aside from his Rotary membership, Bowman was a philanthropist and community activist who served as a Centralia City Council member and owned Kresky Auto Repair & Electric. He joined Twin Cities Rotary in 1989 and served as its president from 2007 to 2008.
The first Leon Bowman Poker Classic will be held on Saturday, March 18, at Chehalis Eagles beginning at 3 p.m. It is expected to end at 5 p.m.
Tournament buy-in is $60 and all proceeds will go toward Twin City Rotary community projects. Some projects ongoing currently are the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, support for the Youth Advocacy Center of Lewis County and building ramps for the disabled in the community.
Chehalis Eagles is located on 1993 South Market Blvd. in Chehalis. This tournament is for adults only.
