Two people were hospitalized following a collision with a deer on Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County Sunday, according to a Washington State Patrol (WSP) press memo.
Bryan D. Cisneros Reyes, 26, of Vancouver, was driving a 2007 Ford Focus southbound near milepost 46 at about 10:45 p.m. when he struck the deer in the center lane, WSP said.
Cisneros Reyes and Rubiselda Castrejon, 27, of Vancouver, were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview. They were both wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
A 5-year-old passenger was uninjured in the collision.
Troopers said the car was totaled.
In its memo, WSP said no alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident and said the cause of the collision was “animal in roadway.”
The memo did not indicate whether or not the deer survived.
