Two people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Thurston County on Friday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Jacob L. Abeyta, 25, of Odessa, was traveling southbound just north of 113th Avenue Southwest at about 9:15 p.m. in a 2012 Kia Soul when he struck another vehicle in the rear.
The second vehicle, a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Travis C. Brown, 39, of Onalaska, came to rest on the right shoulder while the Kia came to rest on the left shoulder.
Abeyta was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment along with his passenger, Lynne M. Vanier, 59, of Centralia.
Travis Brown and his adult passenger, Karli J. Brown, 40, Onalaska, were not injured, and neither were two children — ages 10 and 13 — who were also in the Dodge.
Abeyta is expected to face charges of second-degree negligent driving, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Drugs and alcohol were not involved, according to the state patrol.
All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The Kia was totalled. The Dodge was towed from the scene with reportable damage.
