The unclaimed remains of five veterans — and one veteran’s spouse — will be interred during an upcoming ceremony at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, according to a news release from the Lewis County Coroner’s Office.

Each veteran will receive full military honors.

The ceremony takes place Friday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. and is open to the public. No RSVP is necessary.

Prior to the ceremony, a procession will meet at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis at 11 a.m. before traveling to Tahoma National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., according to the release.

“As in past years, we expect a large turnout from Lewis County Jeepers as well as an escort by the Patriot Guard,” the release states.

The names of the veterans set to be interred are as follows:

• Shelva Jennings, U.S. Army

• Michael Braroe, U.S. Army

• Troyce Stirkins, U.S. Army

• Roger Thompson, U.S. Navy

• Thor Silva, U.S. Army

According to the release, Helen Jennings, Shelva Jennings’s spouse, will be interred with Shelva but will not have a military ceremony.

"We will also be returning a memorial brick for James Kalista (U.S. Marine Corps),” the release states. “This brick was turned in to us after being found in a storage unit.”

Tahoma National Cemetery is located at 18600 SE 240th St., Kent.

The Veterans Memorial Museum is located at 100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis.
