Updated election numbers released on Wednesday show all three replacement, maintenance and operations levies on the ballot in Lewis County passing. The levies are for the White Pass, Mossyrock and Evaline school districts.

The White Pass School District’s four-year replacement maintenance and operations levy for $1.88 million is currently passing with 56.8 percent of the vote in favor, or 668 ballots.

The bulk of the levy would be used to fund five teachers and six paraprofessionals, as well as a full-time mental health counselor for the district.

The levy makes up 18 percent of the district’s overall budget.

The estimated tax rate is $1.93 per 1,000 in assessed value.

As for the Mossyrock School District, the two-year replacement and operations levy for $946,000 is currently passing with 58.18 percent of the vote.

The levy would help fund basic operational costs, which include grounds and facility maintenance, instructional and support staff and cocurricular and extracurricular activity.

The levy makes up approximately 15 percent of the district’s total budget.

The estimated tax rate is $2.16 per $1,000 in assessed value.

The Evaline School District’s two-year replacement maintenance and operations levy of $190,000 is also currently passing with 69.23 percent of the vote.

As a non-high school district, about 35 percent, or $70,000, of the annual levy amount is paid to districts that take in the high school students. The remaining $120,000 helps pay the district’s utilities, insurance, supplies and part of the district’s classified staffing.

The levy makes up about 20 percent of the district’s total budget.

All three school districts earlier told The Chronicle they would have to cut services if the replacement levies were not passed.

The next ballot counts will take place on Thursday, Feb. 23. The election will be certified on Feb. 24.
