A 78-year-old Vancouver woman found dead Tuesday in her home was strangled to death, Clark County officials have determined.

Patricia Jimerfield was found around 9:40 p.m. in her home near Northwest 26th Avenue and 99th Street in Vancouver when someone called 911 to report that she was unresponsive, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office previously said in a statement.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office has since concluded that Jimerfield died of “ligature strangulation” performed by another person, according to a statement the county released Friday, meaning that somebody strangled her to death with a cord, rope or other ligature.

Jimerfield had filed a report with the sheriff’s office the day she died after getting a notification from her bank about pending fraudulent charges and discovering that her wallet was missing from her purse, the sheriff’s office previously said.
