‘Very Successful’: Early Data Shows 71,000 People Attended Southwest Washington Fair

Preliminary data from this year’s Southwest Washington Fair show that about 71,000 people attended the six-day fair this year, according to a news release from Lewis County.

Lewis County Parks and Recreation Director and Fair Manager Connie Riker saif that’s an increase over attendance from 2021.

“3,000 attended the rodeo on Saturday night — a near sellout,” Riker told Lewis County Commissioners on Monday. “A huge success due to the county’s partnership with Plus 1 Productions who elevated the rodeo experience with an amazing NPRA/Pro-West dual sanctioned rodeo.”

Fairgoers added to the success of the fair, according to the county.

“Vendors were incredibly impressed by their experience, with one vendor reporting an over 33% increase in sales, and another saying they had their best year ever in 32 years of fair participation,” Riker said.

“I appreciate all of the hard work, the outpouring of work” that went into the fair,” Lewis County Commissioner Lindsey Pollock said.

“I can’t wait to do it again next year,” Riker replied.

Following this year’s fair, family friendly activities continue at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, host to the Washington State Garlic Festival beginning at noon Friday and running through Sunday, Aug. 28.
