Owners of Victorian & Steampunk Emporium are preparing to celebrate its new location in downtown Centralia.

The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. The community is invited to join the celebration, which takes place at 108 N. Tower Ave. in Centralia.

The Victorian & Steampunk Emporium moved to its new location in downtown Centralia last May. The store, owned by Christy Lakin, is women-owned and operated by Lakin, her sister Lisa Smith, and her daughter Liz Joel. The store offers a wide array of products, including clothing, tea, jewelry, costume wear and art from local artisans.

“We bring in vendors, creators and artists and they’re all local,” Lakin said.

Her offerings include her own hand-blended line of teas. Lakin shared a description from a customer who refers to her store as “a living Etsy shop.” She draws inspiration for the store and its name from both Victorian and steampunk styles, citing her affinity for Victorian aesthetics and the “gidgets and gadgets” of steampunk.
