Vigil Marks 16th Anniversary of Thurston County Woman’s Murder

Friends and family of Karen Bodine gathered Sunday evening at the gravel lot near Rochester where her body was found exactly 16 years prior to celebrate Bodine’s life and raise awareness for her ongoing case.

Authorities have ruled Bodine’s cause of death strangulation but have not made an arrest in the case.

“Let's hope that next year we can be celebrating the capture of the guilty party (or parties) that are responsible for this tragedy,” wrote the page Thurston County Cold Cases in a post after the vigil.

Bodine’s eldest child, Karlee Odin, continues to operate the Facebook page “Justice For Karen Bodine: My Mother's Unsolved Homicide Investigation,” which is dedicated to raising awareness for Bodine’s case in the hopes someone with information that could aid the investigation will come forward.

Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office at 360-786-5500 or Crime Stoppers of South Sound at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
