Behind 13 shots from downtown and at least 20 points in three of the four quarters, the Mossyrock High School boys basketball team pulled away for a 72-35 victory over Winlock on Wednesday night at home.
It secured a top-seven finish in the league for the Vikings (7-9, 5-8 C2BL). They are tied in the loss column with Toutle Lake and two games back of Onalaska and Rainier with three left in the regular season.
Freshman guard Colby Cournyrer erupted with six trifectas, part of a game-high 24 points for the Vikings. They allowed just 12 second half points, including no field goals in the third period. Aylan Bigbee and Kevin Mitchell each scored 12 on the night.
“We were attacking the hoop with controlled aggression and were able to find our teammates for open looks,” Mossyrock head coach Kelly Ross said. “We (are) trending in the right direction as we finish up the regular season.”
Winlock (2-14, 1-11) was paced by 14 points from sophomore Monte Williams. It has its final four games in the span of six days, starting on Tuesday versus Toledo. Meanwhile, the Vikings’ next game is also against the Riverhawks, but on Friday night.
