The Mossyrock girls basketball team let a second-half lead slip away against Toledo on Friday, but the Vikings came back and defeated the Riverhawks 46-41 in double overtime.
“I’m proud of the girls,” Mossyrock coach Nick Rashoff said. “We battled back.”
It was a tale of two halves in regulation, as Mossyrock led 16-9 at halftime before Toledo stormed back in the second half to take a late lead.
The two teams ended regulation tied at 32, and the first OT period wasn’t enough to break the deadlock. Maci Rashoff hit two late free throws in the extra frame to force a second.
In the second overtime, Chesney Schultz and Adyson Barrows both hit threes to ice it.
Schultz finished with a team-high 17 points, while Rashoff wasn’t far behind with 12. Taylor Schwartz added eight.
Kailea Lairson-Young scored 13 points to lead Toledo, while Hope Gould scored 10. Hope Gould and Ellie Fallon both added six.
Both teams will hit the road on Tuesday, as Mossyrock (3-1, 1-0 C2BL) will head to Winlock while the Riverhawks (2-2, 1-1 C2BL) will look to bounce back at Onalaska.
