The Visiting Nurses Foundation’s first Road to Respite Gala exceeded expectations, raising more than $70,000 for the nonprofit’s new Respite Care Grant Program, according to a news release from the organization.

The outcome of the gala marks “a significant milestone in its mission to enhance end-of-life care and support for hospice patients and their families,” the organization stated.

The Road to Respite Gala aimed to help bridge the gap between caregivers and the respite they need.

Held on Thursday, March 14, at The Loft in Chehalis, the Respite Gala brought together supportive individuals, businesses and organizations from around the area in a night of celebration and fundraising.

The Respite Care Grant Program will provide family caregivers with the means to hire someone to come into their homes and watch their loved ones while they can attend to necessary tasks or simply take some time for themselves, according to the release.

"We are overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of support and generosity at our first Respite Gala," said Jacki Jewell, executive director of the Visiting Nurses Foundation. "This event not only exceeded our fundraising goals but also served as a powerful reminder of the community's commitment to ensuring comfort and dignity for hospice patients and their families during their final journey."

The Road to Respite Gala featured live musical performance by Chris Guenther, silent and live auctions, and testimonials from those touched by the foundation's work.

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended, donated and contributed to making this event a resounding success," Jewell said. "Your generosity will directly impact the lives of hospice patients and their families, providing them with the comfort and care they deserve."

As the Visiting Nurses Foundation reflects on the success of its first Respite Gala, plans are already underway for next year's event.

According to the release, the foundation remains committed to its mission of supporting and uplifting individuals and families facing end-of-life challenges, ensuring they receive the compassion, dignity and respect they deserve.
