Volunteers needed for sustainability fair at Centralia College

Posted

Volunteers are needed for an upcoming repair and sustainability fair at Centralia College.

The event encourages residents to fix items, such as ripped clothing or broken appliances, rather than throwing them away. Volunteers will be on hand at the event to help with a wide array of fixes, with the exact repairs offered limited only by volunteers' skills.

The sustainability fair will also include classes on bicycle maintenance and basic electrical wiring, among other topics.

Lewis County is looking for fixers for the event, with all repair specialties welcome. The county also needs event sponsors to help with supplies, lunch and paid advertising.

The event will include a swap area, resource booths, door prizes and kids activities. There will also be sensitive document shredding from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The sustainability fair will be on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Washington Hall at Centralia College, located at 715 W. Pear St.
