It is becoming a weekly occurrence when Caleb Von Pressentin, the newly-minted C2BL West Offensive MVP, runs wild and he did so in the Tigers’ 47-24 victory over the Ducks on Friday night in a Class 2B crossover at home.
The biggest sequence was with three seconds to go in the second quarter, Von Pressentin took off for an 80-yard score to give them a 26-8 lead. Then on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, the senior galloped 77 yards to the house. In total, he had 307 yards on 23 carries.
“It shows we can do some things,” Napavine head coach Josh Fay said. “Even though we have a lot of young kids, they know there is a lot of work ahead. They’re excited.”
Toutle Lake didn’t go away quietly, using an aerial attack to keep the margin respectable. Fay stated he felt the Tigers had “a fair amount of missed tackles” coupled with “Struggled to capitalize on momentum.”
Still, Jayson Hull came away with two interceptions in the end zone and Pono Moniz-Taitague scored twice in the final stanza. Napavine, in its quest for four straight state championship appearances, will find out its Round of 16 matchup on Sunday.
“They feel good they’re back in the state tournament," Fay said of his team’s mood afterwards.
