The Rochester girls basketball team came up just short on the road Thursday, falling to 1A Elma 44-38 in a non-league matchup.

The Warriors trailed by eight points at halftime, but turned things around with an 11-5 third quarter, narrowing the gap to just two points going into the final eight minutes. The Eagles found their offense again come the fourth, though, pulling away to win.

Delany Winter led all scorers for the Warriors, dropping 19 points, including all nine of her team’s in the fourth quarter.

Hailey Angwood added six points, Mandy Andree Cordell had five, Hannah Kush scored four, and Kenna Pratt and Keiki-Lani Kinsella-Cintron both pitched in two.

Rochester (0-2) will face another 1A side in Hoquiam when it hosts the Grizzlies next Monday.
