Warriors keep it competitive, fall to Eagles in four

Despite rallying in the first set and knotting the match up at 1-1 in the second, the same old issues arose once again for the Rochester High school volleyball team as Elma secured a 25-23, 23-25, 25-14, 25-14 win in Class 1A Evergreen League action.

Up 23-21 in the opener, the Warriors (0-12, 0-5 Evergreen) couldn’t come up with the clincher. Still, they continued the momentum in the second and avoided the sweep for the first time since the five-setter versus the Eagles three weeks ago.

“We were moving,” Rochester first-year head coach Courtney Baird said. “Games in the past, we kind of rolled over. We did a much better job being able to come back.”

Cheyenne Justice paced the back row with 22 digs while freshman setter Charlie Culp dished out 15 assists. Lexi Dupont slammed home five kills and Arissa LeBaron registered four. Leah Hartley served four aces and had two blocks.

The Warriors wrap up the non-league slate on Thursday, traveling to face Onalaska.
