Spurred by Ethan Rodriguez’s efforts on the mound and at the plate, the Rochester High School baseball team picked up a 12-2 victory over Centralia on Friday night at the Centralia Sports Complex.

Rodriguez pitched just two innings, but allowed one hit and notched three strikeouts. He roped a triple, scored twice, drove in a run and registered a stolen base. The junior played a role in the top-three of the Warriors (1-0) lineup, reaching base six times.

They drew 11 walks and took advantage of four Tigers (0-2) errors. Kole Smith also registered two hits and struck out three on the bump. Catcher Wyatt Dahl crossed home plate twice and drew two walks for Rochester, who plays Woodland on Monday.

Centralia was led by Jacob Johnson’s two hits – both of them for extra bases – Kellan Rooklidge and Johnson driving in runs. Brooke Boone also had two hits for the Tigers. They take on R.A. Long on Tuesday night.
